The FY25 EVSE Rebate Program is currently FULLY ALLOCATED for both Residential and Commercial Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) applications. While funds are exhausted for new applications at this time, commercial projects may still have opportunities through the Community Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Grant Program. Explore the program webpage for further details. Applications received from January 28, 2025, onwards will receive updated information regarding the funding status and alternative options.
The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is actively processing submitted EVSE rebate applications to promote the adoption of electric vehicles across Maryland. Applications are being reviewed and processed in the order they are received, and email inquiries are addressed in the order of submission.
We appreciate your understanding as MEA manages the high level of interest in the EVSE rebate program. For any questions, please contact the EVSE inbox directly at [email protected].
Please be aware that funding availability, budget amounts, eligible technologies, rebate structures, and incentive amounts are subject to change and cannot be guaranteed at this time. Submitted applications will be acknowledged via email and kept on file for processing should additional funding become available.
By applying, applicants agree to MEA’s current data collection protocols as detailed in the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) below.
Program Objective: The core goal of the EVSE Rebate Program is to alleviate the financial barriers associated with acquiring and installing EV charging stations. This initiative is designed to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, contributing to Maryland’s EV deployment targets and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction goals.
Program Overview: The Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate Program offers financial assistance to cover eligible expenses related to purchasing and installing qualified EV supply equipment, commonly known as charging stations. This program is specifically designed to encourage the expansion of EV charging infrastructure throughout Maryland, supporting both residential and commercial sectors.
Program Funding: The total budget allocated for the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) rebate program is $2.5 million.
- Initially, $1.5 million was designated for residential EVSE applications, and $1.0 million was allocated for commercial EVSE applications.
- Starting April 1, 2025, these initial allocation limits will be lifted. Any FY25 applications that were not processed due to the initial funding limits being reached will then be considered, depending on the overall remaining FY25 budget for the entire EVSE Rebate Program.
Rebate Category | Percentage of Total Eligible Costs | Maximum Rebate Amount per Charger |
---|---|---|
Residential | 50% | Up to $700 |
Commercial | 50% | Up to $5,000 |
To ensure the longevity and impact of EVSE incentives, rebates are no longer offered for Level 1 EVSE purchased on or after October 1, 2023. The focus is on supporting more robust and permanent EV charging infrastructure.
While Multi-Unit Developments (MUDs) are eligible for the FY25 EVSE Rebate Program, MEA is exploring options to provide enhanced incentives for EVSE installations within MUDs located in low-to-moderate-income, overburdened, and/or underserved communities. Further details will be released as they become available. This reflects a commitment to equitable access to EV charging solutions.
Program Type: Rebate; Non-competitive (first-come, first-served) until program funds are exhausted. This ensures a straightforward and accessible process for businesses looking to invest in EV charging.
Application Guidelines: Refer to the “How to Apply” section in the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) under Program Documents below. Applicants must thoroughly review the FOA before submitting an application to understand project requirements, eligibility criteria, the application process, and program terms and conditions. Careful adherence to these guidelines will ensure a smooth application process.
Program Documents:
Important Notice: As of August 15, 2024, applicants are required to use the most current versions of the FY25 EVSE Rebate Program Residential or Commercial Application Forms. Outdated application forms will not be accepted after October 1, 2024. Applicants whose applications are rejected for using outdated forms are welcome to re-apply using the updated application form.
